ORIGIN OF DEMAGOGO

The word “demagogo” comes from two Greek terms, namely, demos which means “people” and agein which means “to lead”, this means that a demagogue is one who directs or leads a people. However, the use of this expression is framed in a negative direction of the people.

A demagogo seeks the favor of the people with lies. The only thing he is looking for is power, however, his promises and commitments are completely false. Manipulation, lies, corruption and personal gain are the main characteristics of the demagogue.
