The second is for the TV show “MDQ para todo el mundo”, hosted by Eugenio and Sebastián “Culini” Weinbaum, broadcast by El Trece in Argentina.

ORIGIN OF MDQ
Mindiptana, an airport in Indonesia, managed to win the acronym for Mar del Plata in 1945. This is a town with two inhabitants per square kilometer, located in the province of Papua, 3700 kilometers east of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
Exactly 74 years ago, a group of villagers inaugurated their first and only airport, “Bandar Udara Mindiptana”, which the International Air Transport Association (IATA) gave the global identification of “MDP”.
Three years later, in 1948, a similar scene was repeated, but in the seaside city of Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was the first mandate of President Juan Domingo Perón.
The Chief of the Argentine Air Force noticed that the city was starting to have a lot of air activity and then decided to send a group of men to form the “Mar del Plata Military Air Base”.
On February 15, 1952, Perón signed a decree and created the Mar del Plata Aeronautical Detachment. But it was too late to stay with the acronyms that corresponded to them.
Mindiptana had won them and the residents of Mar del Plata had no choice but to settle for the international identification “MDQ”.
